Heel Pain

Pain in the foot. Massage of female feet

What causes Heel Pain?

Heel pain most often results from plantar fasciitis, or a thickening and inflammation of a band of tissue that runs from the heel to the toes and helps to support your arch.

Other causes of heel pain include heel spurs, loss of heel cushion or fat pad, nerve damage, tendinitis, ligament damage, stress fracture, arthritis, foreign body (glass, splinter), or even malignancy.

What are symptoms

Symptoms can vary depending on the cause of heel pain, but can include pain with first step, stiffness, sharp shooting pain and possibly swelling, numbness/tingling, and burning.

How we can help

A comprehensive evaluation is critical to determining your cause of heel pain and early management is critical to long term success. Our board-certified specialist is uniquely trained to treat pain of the foot and ankle. Most patients find relief without surgery through custom orthotics, bracing, anti-inflammatory injections, and rehabilitative therapy.
