What is Arthritis?

Osteoarthritis is commonly thought of as "wear-and-tear" of cartilage and can affect any part of the body. The progressive disease can lead to a loss of cartilage, bone on bone pain, inflammation of the joint capsule, growth of bone spurs, and hardening of bone around joints.

Arthritis of the foot and ankle is commonly a result of poor foot biomechanics, trauma, obesity, deformities such as bunions, hammertoes, or a combination of factors.

What are the symptoms?

Osteoarthritis causes pain, swelling, and stiffness of a joint. Some patients experience grinding or locking of a joint and pain can be worst after a period of rest and can improve with light activity.

How we can help!

Our board-certified specialist is uniquely trained to treat arthritis of the foot and ankle. Most patients find relief without surgery through custom orthotics, bracing, anti-inflammatory injections, and rehabilitative therapy. We want to keep you active!
